Choosing Between Win % and Point %

Selecting the right scoring method for your Quke pickleball league

Quke pickleball leagues use one of two methods for awarding Performance Points on the leaderboard: Win Percentage or Points Scored Percentage. Each has its own advantages and is suited for different types of leagues.

Win Percentage

How it works

Each match is “winner takes all.” Players earn as many performance points as their win percentage for a rotation:

  • A 1-3 record = 25 points
  • A 4-0 record = 100 points

Point Range

  • Players can earn 0-100 performance points per rotation
  • Players typically average 50 points

Leaderboard Impact

  • More movement in the standings
  • Easier to rise or fall quickly

Best For

  • Social leagues
  • Leagues with newer players
  • Simpler to understand
  • More forgiving of bad weeks

Points Scored Percentage

How it works

Every point counts. Players earn performance points based on their game point percentage (total points scored out of possible points).

Point Range

  • Players can earn 0-100 points per rotation
  • Most players will earn between 70-95 points

Leaderboard Impact

  • Less movement in the standings later in the league
  • Easier to fall farther behind or get farther ahead
  • Rewards consistent performance
  • Close losses don’t hurt as much

Best For

  • Leagues with avid players
  • Players who prefer detailed statistics
  • More competitive environments

Key Considerations for League Coordinators

Most clubs and avid players prefer the “Points Scored” method because every point matters in the standings. However, “Win Percentage” can create more dynamic standings and is often easier for newer players to understand.

Note: The most important factor is clear communication. Transparency about the scoring system at the start of the league is key to player satisfaction. As long as players understand how points are calculated, they are more likely to have fun regardless of the chosen system.
