Ladder Leagues are a popular format for Pickleball. Quke offers both partner (teams of 2) and individual leagues. The mechanics are the same for both, so this guide explains the individual ladder league. Simply replace “player” with “team” for partner leagues.
Check-In
- At the start of each league session, players check in as they arrive
- Players log into the Quke website on their phones to see their schedule and report scores for the night
Group Creation
- Once all players arrive, or the facilitator decides to start, checked-in players are grouped based on leaderboard standings
- Groups consist of 4-5 players: the top players form the highest group, the next best players form the second group, and so on
Game Creation & Play
- The league facilitator creates games on the Quke website
- Each group plays a round-robin format, where each player competes with every other player once
- Players use their phones to view their schedules and court assignments and to record scores
- This schedule is called a “Rotation”
Games Finish & Leaderboard Updates
After all games are complete, the Rotation ends, and players receive points for their standings.
Points are awarded in two ways:
-
Performance Points: Based on win percentage
- For example, a 3-1 record (75% win rate) earns 75 points
-
Group Bonus Points: Based on the group competed in
- Higher groups get more points
- For example, the lowest group gets 0, the next group gets 10, and so on
Note: The amount of bonus points awarded is set by the League Facilitator. The amount of bonus points affects leaderboard movement (learn more about rating movement here). More movement occurs at the league’s start, stabilizing as the league progresses.
Next Rotation Begins
- One rotation takes about 75-90 minutes
- In sessions lasting 2.5-3 hours, another rotation may occur
- After the first Rotation, new groups and matches are created based on updated league standings
Next Session
The process repeats at the next league meeting.
